Cancer Care
Helpful Services for Cancer Patients and Their Families
We care for the person, not just the cancer. It's that simple, and that complicated.
When you have cancer, it affects your body, your spirit and those who love you. That’s why caring for you and your family is central to your treatment at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cancer Center.
The Cancer Support Team offers:
- Individual and group counseling
- Support groups
- Education
- Special programs to help you take care of your emotional, financial, nutritional and long-term health
We believe knowledge is power. To arm you for the journey you’re facing, we provide a resource room with books, cassette tapes, brochures, videos and websites, along with educational programs on a variety of topics.
Here are just some of our services. If you need anything that isn't listed, just ask. We're here to help.

Palliative CarePalliative care is care that is meant to improve your quality of life. It’s different from your cancer treatments. Pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite and difficulty sleeping can make your life more difficult. Our Palliative Care team can help you with these and other issues at any time during your illness.
Pharmacy ServicesYour cancer medicines are prepared right in the hospital by pharmacists who are specially trained in cancer medicines. The pharmacists are always happy to answer your questions.
For your convenience, there's a full-service pharmacy in each of the hospitals. You can fill any prescription there, not just the prescriptions you get from your cancer doctors. The pharmacy staff can also help you with any supplies you need related to your cancer, such as home infusion equipment and ostomy products. There is a trained, confidential fitter to help with mastectomy supplies. The pharmacies also carry nutritional and herbal supplements.

Nutrition Assessment and CounselingChemotherapy and radiation therapy can weaken your body. So you need to eat different foods while you go through cancer treatment. You need to have more calories and more protein than you might think.
Your registered dietician will explain your nutritional needs, including how to manage nutrition-related side effects. You'll also get information about vitamin, mineral and herbal supplements.
